Creating Books With Children
Have you ever wanted to make a memory?
I highly recommend making books with your children. We
show our books to almost everyone that enters our home, and
now we want to share them with you too!
A UNIT STUDY ON BOOKMAKING THAT WE USED
If there has been one unit study that has had a lasting
impact in our writing and language arts skills, I would say
it has been Valerie Bendt’s unit study book called CREATING
BOOKS WITH CHILDREN.

I considered purchasing her
book for several years before actually doing so. The main
thing that held me back was that I kept thinking, “I wish I
could see some books that someone else has made using the
unit study." Now you can read our stories AND get a tips
ebooklet (more info)of our
experience making the books.

into an ebook that can be printed for your

COMMENTS FROM READERS
“I love your story and the illustrations are superb!
Congratulations on creating such a wonderful treasure.”
–Valerie Bendt
“I read the book to her [daughter] and to two of her
friends today and they all liked it. They listened all the
way to the end which surprised me because we couldn't cuddle
up in a comfy chair since I was reading it from my computer
screen. They really liked the pictures and were fascinated
by how she could draw them and then get them to her
computer.” –Paula Farris
“Megan [her daughter] loved the story. I think that a
homeschooling family would enjoy it on the level of a story,
and also as an encouragement to their children as something
created by another homeschooler.” --Karen Davis
“I read the book and liked it. Jennifer liked it too. I
like the part about asking parents for permission.” –Nancy
Rocke

COMMENTS FROM READERS
"All of the kid’s books are great! The illustrations are
delightful." - Valerie Bendt
"I want to express how much my girls like the book about
the brother following his sister. The description, word
choice etc. could paint a picture. My four year has wanted
me to read her that story for the past several days!!! My
six year has commented about how she needs to be careful
because her two year brother is watching her. Good lesson
and reminder.." -Nancy Rocke
